LENOX AND THE BERKSHIRES
Tanglewood, the famed summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, is less than two miles away. Also nearby are a half-dozen summer theater festivals, numerous other music programs and the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival.
The area offers marvelous activities year-round, including the Norman Rockwell Museum, the word-class Clark Art Institute, Hancock Shaker Village, the Berkshire Museum, and a full-range of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and both downhill and cross-country skiing.
Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, with several miles of trails in a peaceful setting, is a short drive down the street from Amadeus House. Nearby Kennedy Park also has nearly 20 miles of wooded trails, some of which are groomed for cross-country skiing in the winter.
Several hundred thousand acres of Berkshire County woodlands have been set aside as state parks featuring hiking trails, lakes for swimming and boating, and other outdoor activities.
The innkeepers are happy to help you plan your stay in the Berkshires. Ask for their special map showing a driving tour of the area's charming villages and back roads.
